The Vajra standard
Resin is unforgiving. So we formulate for the things that matter in the studio: clarity, workability and a finish that lasts.
Low odour, so working indoors is far more pleasant.
Formulated to help your pieces stay crystal clear for longer.
A watery, self-levelling flow lets trapped air rise out before it sets.
Our art epoxy conforms to the standard for labelling art materials.
How it works
Combine resin and hardener in the exact ratio on the pack (2:1 or 3:1). Stir slowly for 3–5 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom.
Fold in metallic paste, mica powder or pigment, then pour within the pot life. Work at 20–25°C for the best flow.
Cover from dust and leave it to set. Art Epoxy 2:1 de-moulds in 12 hours, Art Epoxy 3:1 fully cures in 24.
FAQ
Not sure which resin or colour to start with? These are the questions artists ask us most.
Art Epoxy 2:1 is the all-rounder for art panels, trays and moulds, with pours up to 20 mm and de-moulding in 12 hours. Art Epoxy 3:1 has a watery, low-odour flow for thin coats and detail work up to 10 mm. For river tables and thick castings, Table Craft 3:1 handles single pours up to 64 mm with ultra-low heat.
Our pour depths and pot life are based on an ideal room temperature of 20–25°C. In hotter conditions resin sets faster, so mix smaller batches and pour promptly.
With Vajra opaque pigments, use between 1% and 10% of the resin's weight. Less gives a translucent tint, more gives full opacity. Metallic pastes and mica powders are highly pigmented, so start with a small amount and build up.
Resin and hardener react chemically. Measure exactly as printed on the pack and mix thoroughly, or the piece may stay soft or tacky. Our packs come pre-portioned in the correct ratio.
Stir slowly rather than whipping, pour in a thin steady stream, and pass a heat gun or torch briefly over the surface after pouring. Our bubble-releasing formulas do the rest.
